Repeat prescriptions for regular medication can be obtained without seeing the doctors, providing it has been agreed by them. You will be asked to speak to the doctors to review your medication from time to time.
When you collect your medication you will be given a printout of your regular repeat prescriptions to assist you when re-ordering. Please retain this list. To re-order, tick the items you require and post it back to the Surgery.
Alternatively you can order using our online Patient Access, please register with us first (find out more here), leave it in the box in Reception, email to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax it to 01285 831679 making sure it is legible.
We require three working days’ notice for repeat medication as we only hold limited stocks on our shelves and usually have to order for delivery the following day. If you have to pay for prescriptions please ensure you have means of paying when you collect your medication. We accept cheques or cash but are not able to take card payments at present.
If you require medication urgently and the surgery is not open, then please telephone the OUT OF HOURS SERVICE on 111.
We can dispense medication to the majority of our patients who live more than one mile from a chemist.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
